No one likes dry meat right? This Maple Ham recipe is guaranteed to be anything but dry! If you haven't had a chance to test out an Instant Pot in your kitchen, I definitely recommend looking into one as all of the holiday sales are right around the corner! Every single item I put in my Instant Pot to cook comes out tender and flavorful…and it's like a crockpot. Once I set the timer, it does all the work for me and I don't even have to think about dinner again until it's cooked! Talk about an awesome product to have in your kitchen, especially during the holidays. If you're a multi-tasker like me, you definitely don't want to have to stand over your dinner and watch it cook while an hour or sometimes more dwindles away.

This ham recipe is no exception. Did you know you can cook FROZEN meat in an instant pot as well!? I thawed our ham before making this recipe, but that is a great tid bit to know about if you don't remember to thaw a big hunk of meat like this before a meal!

I love how simple this recipe is, even the kids can help :).

About the Ingredients

Cranberries have many excellent supportive health benefits as well. They help support your immune system, which in the cold and rainy season we have here in Washington State, it is imperative to support your immune system as the nasty cold and flu season is always lurking, just waiting to attack your body when its dealing with the stress of the holidays and busy school schedule. These berries also help support and promote healthy skin, your heart, kidneys, teeth, urinary tract etc. Anytime you can squeeze these little red berries into your families diet, you're doing them a huge favor!

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is another key ingredient in this recipe. I personally enjoy and recommend picking up a glass bottle of Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (which can be found here). This liquid gold also supports your immune system! It helps detoxify the body and regulate your pH levels. It can help reduce inflammation and dissolve migraines. I'm sure you've heard that it makes an excellent toner when used on skin and helps heal dermatitis issues or even keep that pesky sore throat at bay during this busy season!

I had to carve the ham a little to make it all fit, no shame in having to improvise and get creative. But once your ham is in the instant pot and seasoned, don't forget the water to steam, all you have to do is wait! No puppy guarding the oven to make sure your meat does not dry out.

Next project is the cranberry sauce, which is just as easy as the “dump and leave your ham to cook” project above. After the cranberries have simmered with honey and water, they begin to split. This is when you add the rest of your ingredients. My fiance is an avid hater of mustard. He has no idea just how often I use it in all of my recipes. So if you have picky family members, remember that half the time they never even realize one of their hated ingredients is in your delicious recipe that they will gobble down.

This sauce is a little tart which pairs perfectly with your tender maple ham. This sauce is more of a sauce and not a glaze. If you wish to puree the cranberry sauce, I would recommend using a handheld inversion blender (which can be found here) for the best result! We like things chunky in our household so I skipped this step.

After both are cooked, pull the ham out of the instant pot and notice how it starts to fall off of the bone. Cut off some slices, drizzle in your cranberry sauce, and you are ready for a nice meal!

  • 6.5 lb Ham
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Organic Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt

Cranberry Sauce

  • 2 cups Fresh Cranberries
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Raw Honey
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Organic Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg

  • Place a trivet on the bottom of the Instant Pot and lower the ham on top. Pour the water on the bottom of the pot and drizzle the maple syrup and salt over the ham.
  • Press the Manual button and set the time for 40 minutes. Turn the instant pot off after the 40 minutes timer is up and allow it to naturally release pressure. *Make sure the ham is cooked to at least 145 degrees F*

Cranberry Sauce

  • Heat the cranberries, water, and honey together in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  • Stir every once and a while for 5 minutes. Once the cranberries have begun to split open, add the mustard, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, and nutmeg.
  • Cook for a couple more minutes allowing the ingredients to integrate as you stir and mix it all together. The sauce should begin to thicken and develop a rich, dark cranberry hue. I preferred to leave the sauce a little chunky, you may allow it to cool and put it in a blender if you prefer it to be pureed.
