If you look around you, you may notice that many things come in a triad. This is because registering a concept in a set of 3 is very easy for the brain to comprehend.
This is why we celebrate Gold, Silver and Bronze for events, because if we had a fourth option, it would be more difficult to remember. Also this is why many books are written in 3s, such as trilogies, or the 3 musketeers.
Focusing on the power of the triad becomes so important in any kind of rehab protocol. If we focus on groups of three, the brain and the body, plus the spirit (see what I did there??) will be impacted in a much more powerful way.
How to Apply a Triad to Physical Therapy
If you have ever been to a physical therapist, you might not have even noticed that they are working in triads. We see this in the planes of motion that are available, the mind/body/spirit component, and even in the neuromusculoskeletal system.
Many of these areas where we see triadoxes occurring cannot be impacted singularly. If you touch one arm of the triad, you are really influencing all of the different components on some level.
My guest today, Jennifer Lee of Spooner PT, loves this whole idea of working with the triads. She sees the power of 3 every single day in her practice, and is fascinated by the changes she sees when you touch all aspects of a triad.
In this episode, Jennifer Lee and I discuss:
»Where there are triads within the physical therapy world
»How you can influence the body in unique ways if you focus on a triad
»What are all the triadoxes that can be found in physical therapy
»Why are these triads so valuable to the body
[3:00] What made you get into physical therapy and why are you so passionate about seeing the progression of PT?
[5:30] There is two sides of the PT world, the side that wants double blind studies for everything, and the other side that sees how the person in front of them functions

[10:15] Defining the spirit component can be difficult, it is more in line with what they cannot do anymore
[11:00] There are many different ways the power of 3 can come into play within physical therapy
[16:15] How does applying all 3 planes of motion create more impact in the rehab protocols than if we focused on just a single plane
[19:00] How can we take these triadoxes and apply it to physical therapy
[21:50] As a patient, what would you like to receive from the practitioner
